Aislinn Grace (Louis Arthur - Adonara), Louis Arthur's first sales yearling, brought a very respectable $4,500 in the sales ring, outselling several horses at the sale by proven commercial stallions.  Aislinn Grace was purchased by frequent Canterbury Downs leading trainer David Van Winkle for owner Rodney Miller, one of only two he purchased.

Easy Red (Charasmatic - Dreams of Glory), broke his maiden in his fifth victory when he took a 2-1/4 mile Maiden Special Weight at Monmouth Park in his first attempt over the hurdles, carrying 158 pounds for trainer Thomas Voss.  Dumbarton Farm's stakes-winning homebred has now raised his lifetime earnings to $265,112.

Pioneering Bird
(Pioneering - Wild Cat Strike), returned to her winning ways with a 2-3/4 length victory in a mile and a sixteenth contest at Puerto Rico's Camarero Race Track over the muddy surface for which she's shown affinity in the past. Owned by Establo Luna Llena and trained by Gaston Capote, she is closing in on $100,000 in earnings with a new total of $93,395.

The only three yearlings by Louis Arthur to be offered at public auction will sell at the upcoming Arizona Thoroughbred Breeders Mixed Sale, held at the Westworld complex in Scottsdale, Arizona on Thursday, October 15th, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The three fillies are being offered by their breeder, W. L. Chatham DVM, as part of a disbursement of his 2008 yearling crop. These fillies are all bred on proven crosses: One to Louis Arthur's predominant sire Seattle Slew's success with Strawberry Road (Aus), his second dam's strength with Cox's Ridge, and one of the mare's success with another Relaunch son, Honor and Glory.  Links to their catalog pages follow.

Hip # 9  Aislinn Grace ( bay filly out of Adonara, by Strawberry Road (Aus). This filly is a half sister to multiple New York black-type winner, RETRIBUTION (6 wins, $325,006) and New York black-type placed Major Adonis (Winner at 2 and 3, $100,926). Second Dam is a half-sister to multiple European Champion and North America track record setter, COMMITTED (16 ;wins, $341,392), granddam of Champion and multiple course record setter ENGLISH CHANNEL (13 wins, $5,319,028), etc.

Hip # 14  Retell The Story (bay filly out of Baby Stories, by Old Stories).  This filly is the out of winning half-sister to stakes-placed Script Gal, dam of multiple stakes winner, LIGHTS ON BROADWAY (15 wins in 83 starts, 3 to 10, 2008, $572,445) and Mr. Festus (4 wins, $129,934) and stakes-placed multiple winner Valentine Surprise.

to finish second to the favorite in the $150,000-added Oak Hall Stakes, improving his finish position from last year's third place finish.

State Power (Quiet American - Mackenzie Slew), kept the family penchant for setting new course records when he scored a 2-3/4 length victory in a one mile allowance on the turf at Evangeline Downs, stopping the clock in a new course record time of 1:34:19.  This was his second win for new owner II Jokers Racing LLC and new trainer Jackie W. Thacker.

Making his first start in nearly six months, Maastricht (Deputy Minister - Highest Glory) just missed his 10th lifetime victory by the slimmest of noses at Mountaineer Park. Showing grit and determination througout the stretch drive, Maastricht just missed in the head bob in the mile and 70 yard contest for William N. Martin and owners Brad DeWolfe and the Martin Brothers, Inc..

Cheersforchocolate (Prince at Dawn - Pepper Mill), a mare inbred 2x2 to *Grey Dawn II and 4x5 to Bold Ruler, produced her first foal, a filly by Louis Arthur, for specialist breeder Laura A. Gill of Fort Collins, CO.  Mare is from the family of several stakes winners and stakes horses, including HIS LEGACY (14 wins, $420,925).

Rhinestone Desert (QH) (Rhinestone Boots - Jet Views Duchess), produced Louis Arthur's first appendix Quarter Horse foal, a striking filly owned by Bart and Julie Wells of Maricopa, AZ.  They intended to breed for a barrel racer, but are thinking of possibly flat racing the filly if she continues to show a penchant for racing her mama.

Easy Red (Charasmatic - Dreams of Glory), missed his 5th lifetime win by a mere nose in a 7 furlong dirt contest at Laurel Park, after a game close.  Dumbarton Farm's stakes-winning homebred has now raised his lifetime earnings to $224,282 under trainer James W. Murphy.

Maastricht (Deputy Minister - Highest Glory) continued his winning ways, by adding his 9th lifetime victory, at Mountaineer Park, where he put away a full field of 10, including the front-running favorite, by 1-3/4 lengths after a mile and 70 yards for  trainer William N. Martin and owners Martin Brothers, Inc..

Word comes from Chile that Mackenzie Slew's last Northern Hemisphere foal, Slew American (Quiet American) won two races as a juvenile in that country, last year.  No word about her sophomore season, yet.  Additionally, the foal Mackenzie Slew was carrying at the time she went through the 2005 Keeneland November Sale, Mach Storm (CHI), a 2-year-old colt by Stormy Atlantic, has yet to start.

State Power (Quiet American - Mackenzie Slew), became his dam's second stakes horse in his second attempt, when he ran a much the best of rest third in the Oak Hall Stakes at Evangeline Downs for owner Bobby Duhon and trainer Keith L. Bourgeois.

Baby Mack (Deputy Minister - Highest Glory), a 4-year-old gelded half-brother to Mackenzie Slew, scored another victory, this time by 1 1/2 lengths, in the slop at Fairmount Park, for owners Rodney and John Robert.

Baby Stories (Old Stories - Test Tube Baby, by Time Tested), a winning half-sister to stakes-placed Script Gal (dam of multiple stakes winner LIGHTS ON BROADWAY (15 wins, $571,789) and Mr. Festus (4 wins, $129,934)), and Valentine Surprise, produced her third foal, and the fifth straight Louis Arthur filly of the season.

State Power (Quiet American - Mackenzie Slew), became his dam's second foal to earn over $100,000 when he came from off the pace to score his fifth lifetime win and first of the year in a 5-1/2 furlong allowance event at Evangeline Downs for his owner Bobby Duhon.  The bay gelding has now earned $103,311.

Pioneering Bird (Pioneering - Wild Cat Strike), became her sire's 30th stakes winner with a runaway score in Puerto Rico's Grade 3 Junta Hipica Stakes at Camarero. Pioneering Bird romped to a five length victory in the six furlong event in a comfortable 1:10:74 over the sloppy track. Owned by Establo Villa Real and trained by Raul Perez, she has increased her earnings to $71,462.

Baby Zone (Wild Zone - Baby I'm Home, by Grand Revival), a multiple placed daughter of stakes winning course record setter Wild Zone and out of a multiple winner and producing granddaughter of Native Dancer from the family of GAMMY'S ALDEN, MORE SCENTS, LONESOME SOUND, SOLSTICE, produced her first foal.  The filly was bred in Arizona by Eddie and Barbara Madden Sr. of Glendale, AZ.

Top Commander (Kingmambo - Mackenzie Slew) led at every call in a six furlong dirt event at Oaklawn Park, only to be nipped at the wire.  The 8-year-old gelding owned by Lee Racing Stables LLC still shows himself to be a classy, tough competitor.

Cabro Dreamcatcher (Former - La Iron Star, by Bimini Captain), a multiple winner out of a half-sister to Washington stakes horses SHEMIRA and Iron Top, kept this year's streak alive by making it threee fillies in a row for Louis Arthur. The filly was bred in Arizona by Ron and Donna Naylor of Avonadale, AZ.

a winner from the family of GSW CURRENT BAY (dam of SP Katzakeena and Lac Aux Dames), produced a colt.  The colt was bred in Arizona by Dan Whatley of Queen Creek, AZ.

(Strawberry Road (Aus) - Committed Miss, by Key to Content), a multiple-winning Alan Paulson-bred mare and dam of three winners including New York Stakes winner RETRIBUTION (6 wins, $304,454) and New York stakes-placed Major Adonis ($100,926) foaled a St. Patrick's Day filly. Adonara is out of half-sister to mulitple European Champion COMMITTED (dam of millionaire HAP, and granddam of multi-millionaire, 2007 U.S. Champion Turf Horse and Breeder's Cup Turf [G1] winner, ENGLISH CHANNEL).
The filly was bred in Arizona by Chesterfield Farm, Queen Creek, AZ. This filly is bred on a similar cross recommended by respected pedigree analyst George W. Smith to Virginia Kraft Payson that produced Champion Two-year-old Colt and now successful sire Vindication.

Nasaree's dam is a half-sister to Wood Memorial Stakes [G1] winner ETERNAL PRINCE.  The filly was bred in Arizona by Chesterfield Farm, Queen Creek, AZ.

Pioneering Bird (Pioneering - Wild Cat Strike), continued to add to her stakes record with another third-place finish in a Puerto Rican Grade 1 event, this time the Dia de la Mujer Stakes at Camarero. Owned by Establo Villa Real and trained by Raul Perez, she has increased her earnings to $46,549.

Pioneering Bird (Pioneering - Wild Cat Strike), who won at first asking earlier in her adopted country of Puerto Rico, earned her first stakes placing in the Grade 3 Clasico Dr. Abraham in her sixth start at Camarero. The two-year-old filly is the first foal from Louis Arthur's half-sister.

Top Commander (Kingmambo - Mackenzie Slew) just missed another victory when he lost a bitter stretch duel with half length winner Pimm's O' Clock in a 5 furlong turf contest at Louisiana Downs.  The 7-year-old gelding owned by Lee Racing Stables LLC set all the pace, hooked up with the winner in the stretch, trading off the lead and came up on the wrong side of the duel as they hit the finish line.

inger Lakes in a mile and a sixteenth dirt test.

Baby Mack (Deputy Minister - Highest Glory), a 3-year-old gelded half-brother to Mackenzie Slew, scored his first victory at Churchill Downs in a 6 furlong maiden race, for owner Lucky Seven Stable.  After a rough stretch drive in which he was bumped and pushed out by the horse who crossed the finish line in front of him by a mere head, Baby Mack, the favorite, was awarded first place.  Louis Arthur's second dam has now produced 7 winners from eight foals to race.

Our condolences go out to breeder Kathie Search, who made the painful decision to euthanize her Louis Arthur colt in California, today.  
Ms. Search was advised of her colt's severe respiratory infection and the colt was sent to one of the foremost equine hospitals in Southern California.  The colt fought for a week before he could fight no longer.  The veteranarians told Ms. Search that besides being a very nice looking, correct foal with a lot of personality, they had never had one fight so hard, for so long, under the severe symptoms he suffered.  "With heart like that, he probably would have made one helluva racehorse," Ms. Search observed, sadly.

Top Commander (Kingmambo - Mackenzie Slew) just missed his eighth lifetime victory by a nose at Lone Star Park, going 6 furlongs on the dirt.  Coming three wide off the turn, he easily took the lead from the front runners but was nipped in the final stride by the fast closing winner.

I Had A Good Time (Swiss Yodeler - Soft Bounty), a winning full-sister to three other winners, out of a half-sister to Brother Derek and Don'tsellmeshort,
produced her first foal, a colt by Louis Arthur. The colt was bred in California by Kathie Search of Phoenix, AZ.

Ordinary Girl (Ordway - Septieme Etoile), an unraced mare inbred 4x4 to the great racemare and producer, Searching, produced her first foal, an Arizona-bred colt, by Louis Arthur for the Louis Arthur Partnership.

Bernhardt (Out of Place - Mackenzie Slew), a three-year-old half-sister to Louis Arthur bred by Don Adam's Courtlandt Farms and raced by Maggie Moss, scored a 7 1/2 length victory in a 6 furlong maiden contest at Mountaineer Park, becoming her dam's fifth winner and second new winner in a month. Mackenzie Slew has now produced 6 winners from 8 to race and both Bernhardt and State Power look to have stakes potential.

Top Commander (Kingmambo - Mackenzie Slew) scored his seventh lifetime victory in a six furlong dirt contest at Sam Houston Park by a length and a quarter on a track labeled "Good".  The gelding has now raised his earnings to $223,130.

Glassboro Handicap winner Two Timin Toni (Thanks to Tony - Well Content), foaled Louis Arthur's first colt and her 12th foal.  The Grade 3-placed mare is the dam of  eight winners, including blacktype winners Two Steppin Toni (15 wins, 9 stakes, $390,618, Texas Champion Three-Year-Old Filly ) and Two Timin' Texan,
and blacktype-placed Tony Riccio and Hey Eileen.  The foal was planned by the late Kent Foster of Kerrville, Texas, who passed away last October.  The mare was purchased privately and the foal is bred by Arizona Bloodstock, in Arizona.  The colt is outstanding and virtually a dead-ringer for Louis Arthur's first foal, a filly out of Arizona Creek (Benton Creek - AZ Social Set).  Pictures will soon be available on the Foals page.

State Power (Quiet American - Mackenzie Slew), a four-year-old half-brother to Louis Arthur bred by Don Adam's Courtlandt Farms and raced by Don Adam's TAC Holdings, Inc., drew off in only his second lifetime start to win a 6 1/2 furlong Maiden Special Weight at Sam Houston Park by a stunning 23 3/4 lengths as the heavy favorite!  He is the fourth winner from this Seattle Slew daughter's seven foals to race.

Maastricht (Deputy Minister - Highest Glory), owned by Saul J. and Max Kupferberg, left the gates as the favorite, in a 1mile 70 yard Aqueduct Allowance. Maastricht took over the calls in the opening quarter, with an ever widening 4 1/2 length victory.

The Louis Arthur Partnership LLC, in Mesa, Arizona has announced that 5% of collected stud fees for the stallion Louis Arthur will be donated to the Second Call Fund, which operates through the Turf Paradise Foundation.  Second Call rehabilitates horses that come off Arizona's tracks and need new careers.  They have placed several racehorses into new careers as police mounts for the cities of Phoenix and Tempe, in Arizona.  They also place horses into private homes.  To find out more about their program and how you can help, please go to their website: www.secondcallfund.com

The Louis Arthur Partnership LLC, in Mesa, Ariz., has announced that 5% of collected stud fees for the stallion Louis Arthur will be donated to Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation. The foundation is a leading source of funding for equine research and since 1983 has provided more than $14 million to fund 223 projects at 34 universities.

?We believe research is vitally important to the industry?s ability to solve health and soundness problems,? said the partnership?s managing partner Vikki Burnham. ?Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation has a proven record of efficient use of donations, and we are pleased to make a contribution derived from breeders who patronize Louis Arthur?

?This is a very generous plan, and we appreciate the partnership?s creativity,? said Edward L. Bowen, president of the Grayson foundation. ?This is an excellent way to generate income for research without the stallion manager relinquishing any control over the horse?s book of mares.?

Dumbarton Farm's Easy Red (Charasmatic - Dreams of Glory), out of a full sister to Mackenzie Slew, rallied in the stretch of the one mile Native Dancer Stakes, on the dirt at Laurel Park, to finish third, less than one length from the win. His earnings now stand at $169,382.

Chesterfield Farm's first annual Stallion Showcase accomplished its goal of introducing guests to all the stallions, including Louis Arthur. Eddie and Barbara Madden, Sr., breeders of his first foal, a filly from the winning Benton Creek mare Arizona Creek, kindly let us "borrow" her for the event. Remarks about the filly included "Really nice looking baby!", "She's really athletic!", "The best looking baby here, and the others are really nice!" and "That filly of his (Louis Arthur) is just a beautiful mover!"

A free Live Foal Guarantee breeding to all the Chesterfield Farm stallions were given away in a free raffle. Mrs. Marty Trout of Queen Creek, Arizona won the free breeding to Louis Arthur. Which of her mares using the season has yet to be determined.

CHANGE IN SHOWCASE DATE! - The Showcase has been moved to the following weekend of Saturday, December 16th, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in order to avoid conflict with the Arizona Breeders' Futurity. Again, in order to help accommodate those at Turf Paradise and others traveling from a distance, the formal stallion viewing times will be 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to give more horsemen an opportunity to see them and participate in the other aspects of the day, including the raffle and private sales.  The R.S.V.P. date has been pushed back to Monday, December 11th. will be featured, along with the other Chesterfield Farm stallions at a Stallion Showcase on Saturday, December 9th, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and throughout the afternoon at the farm as interest indicates. Miracle Man (Yankee Victor - Broadway Boogie) took a 1-1/16 mile turf allowance at Monmouth Park with a closing run that secured his 5th win. This victory raised his earnings to $172,057.

Arizona Creek (Benton Creek - AZ. Social Set), foaled Louis Arthur's test foal, a filly, at Eddie and Barbara Madden, Sr.'s Sleepy Hollow Farm in Glendale, AZ. This was the mare's first foal and the Maddens have booked her to Louis Arthur for 2006. The filly can be seen on the Foals page.

Miracle Man (Yankee Victor - Broadway Boogie), made his 2006 debut a winning one, getting up in time to take a 7 furlong allowance at Gulstream Park. The win was his fourth and pushed his earnings to $139,957.

Louis Arthur is nominated to the Breeders' Cup and Arizona Stallion Stakes.

"Louis Arthur was the lone Arizona stallion to represent Arizona in the recent Hurricane Katrina Relief Stallion Season Auction held September 26-29th on Starquine.com and in conjunction with the Keeneland Foundation and Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA).  Kent Foster of Kerrville, TX, who races horses throughout the country, including in partnership with Team Valor, was the successful bidder for the season to the young son of Relaunch.  The auction, which featured many sought after stallions in Kentucky, Florida and California, raised $300,000 for Thoroughbred industry people in devastated areas." -- Track Talk, The Arizona Thoroughbred, November-December 2005.

Mr. Foster recently purchased another 2006 season to Louis Arthur.

Maastricht (Deputy Minister - Highest Glory), owned by Saul J. and Max Kupferberg, powered to the lead in a one mile dirt contest at Aqueduct, winning by four lengths as the 2-1 favorite.

The Partnership has joined two fund-raising auction to that mentioned below.

The first available is thru Thoroughbred Charities of America's  (TCA) phone-in Stallion Season Auction the weekend after Thanksgiving (November 29th - December 1st).

The second is to benefit the Glenn Ellen Vocational Academy's  (GEVA) Equine Retirement Foundation thru their annual Stallion Season Auction running between December 10th and 17th.

We anticipate participating in others throughout the season, so please check back with us.

Hypo-mating, provided by Pedigree Online, is now available on our Hypo-Mating page.  This provides the breeder with a pedigree of the proposed foal, with several attractive features available at no charge.

The new updated website is released with plenty of informative new features.  Hypo-mating, provided by Pedigree Online's Thoroughbred Database will be available shortly.  We will be adding current conformation photos and video, as well as additional photos of his sire and dam.  We will add a site map for your greater navigation convenience.

The Partnership has donated two seasons to the Louisiana State University Veterinary Medical College's annual All-Breed Stallion Service Auction, to begin October 14th, to help raise money for the already taked resources and equipment the University has given to animals affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  Please bid generously.

Texas businessman Kent Foster, co-owner with Team Valor of Voodoo Dancer's multiple-winning half-brother Cartoonist, was the successful bidder on the aforementioned season to Louis Arthur.

Maastricht (Deputy Minister - Highest Glory), a $1.6 million yearling purchase, broke his maiden by 6-1/2 lengths in a one mile contest at Belmont Park.

The Partnership donated a season to Louis Arthur for the Hurricane Relief Stallion Season Auction sponsored by the Keeneland Foundation, Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA) and Starquine.com.  The proceeds went to relief efforts for hurricane victims, with emphasis on helping the Thoroughbred community.

Dumbarton Farm's Dorchester County (Hennessy - Dreams of Glory) prompted the pace in an 8.5 turf allowance contest at Laurel Park, taking control at the 3/4s and digging in for the win.

Dumbarton Farm's Easy Red (Chasmatic - Dreams of Glory), out of a full sister to Mackenzie Slew, ran second in his first stakes attempt, the grassy 9f Humphrey S. Finney Stakes at Pimlico.

Miracle Man (Yankee Victor - Broadway Boogie), stretching out to 8.5f on a muddy Monmouth Park track, grudgingly gave ground to finish third in the Spend a Buck Stakes.

Miracle Man (Yankee Victor - Broadway Boogie) earned more black-type for Brereton C. Jones in Monmouth Park's 6f Coronado's Quest Stakes when he finished a willing second.

Top Commander (Kingmambo - Mackenzie Slew) dueled with Orphan Brigade on a yielding Lone Star Park turf course to just miss scoring his second stakes victory in the 5f Beck Auto Group Turf Sprint Handicap when longshot Oncearoundtwice caught them at the wire.

Dorchester County (Hennessy - Dreams of Glory) lead wire to wire in a one mile turf allowance contest at Pimlico, scoring by 2-1/2 lengths for Dumbarton Farm.

Miracle Man (Yankee Victor - Broadway Boogie) scored more black type for former Kentucky Governor Brereton C. Jones by placing third in Monmouth Park's 6f Select Stakes.

Top Commander (Kingmambo - Mackenzie Slew) displayed the class his family possesses by setting a Beyer Speed Figure of 111 while defeating a field of proven stakes winners to take Oaklawn Park's 31st renewal of the $150,000 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap (G3) in a wire to wire winning performance for trainer Cole Norman.  Top Commander set blistering fractions of :214, :442, 562 and 1:083 on his way to a 1-1/2 length victory over multiple stakes winners Forest Grove, This Tat, Two Down Automatic, Ole Rebel and Level Playingfield.  Stated trainer Norman, "He's fast, this horse."  Winning jockey Carlos Gonzalez descrived the horse's performance, "when we hit the top of the stretch, I told him, 'it's time to go, son.'  I went to the whip inside the eighth pole, but he wasn't going to get caught today anyway."  Plans for the next race for the 5-year-old son of Kingmambo have not been decided.  Tom Commander has now won 6 of 14 races and earned $172,560.

Brereton C. Jones' homebred, Miracle Man (Yankee Victor - Broadway Boogie) made opening day at Keeneland an extra nice experience for his owner/breeder by powering around the field to win a 7f allowance event by 7-1/2 lengths!  This promising 3-year-old colt remains undefeated in three starts at three different tracks (Churchill Downs, Gulfstream Park and Keeneland).

Courtlandt Farm's homebred Top Commander (Kingmambo - Mackenzie Slew), scored a Beyer Speed Figure of 110 in his debut, yesterday, at Oaklawn Park.  He took the lead before the quarter mile and widened his lead throughout, skipping through fractions of :22, :451, :571, 1:093, to win by nearly 8 lengths!

Louis Arthur's family continues to be active and represented by quality runners around the country as 2005 begins.

Brereton C. Jones' homebred, Miracle Man (Yankee Victor - Broadway Boogie), made an impressive sophomore debut at Gulfstream Park on February 16th, winning a 6f event by 2-1/4 lengths after pressing the pace throughout.  Broadway Boogie is a half-sister to Highest Glory, Louis Arthur's third dam.

Louis Arthur's course record setting half-brother Top Commander (Kingmambo) appears near his 2005 debut for leading trainer Cole Norman.

Dorchester County, out of Mackenzie Slew's full sister, Dreams of Glory, scored an impressive 3-1.2 length maiden victory at Laurel Park on February 5th as the betting favorite.

Meanwhile, Mackenzie Slew's half-brother Maastricht (Deputy Minister), who sold for $1.6 million as a yearling, continues training forwardly at Santa Anita for his 2005 debut.
