Your KEY to the Winner's Circle... What pedigree analysts are saying about

145 Years | Why Breed to Louis Arthur | Mating Recommendations | Pedigree | Five Cross Pedigree | Hypo-Mating
"He certainly has a nice pedigree. A GSV of 75ish with a terrific race record usually results in a good stallion. Without a good race record, the GSV does not mean a whole lot, but sometimes horses with a poor race record for a stallion, do quite well with a GSV above 73.00. I like the fact that your stallion came back from his injuries. You should know whether he has the good stuff from the very first foals he throws since stallions with poor race records, but high GSV scores give themselves away very quickly at stud. Yep, he's got a shot. Since most new stallions fail, it is always in order to take a very careful conservative approach. I would recommend getting as many producers to him as you can to help prove him. That's the advantage horses like Ghostzapper(GSV 68.82) have which help him overcome a lower GSV than Louis Arthur. Get Louis Arthur the best mares you can and you should know pretty quickly if he's going to overcome the race record. Good luck with him." George W. Smith "The Matchmaker", Pedigree Analyst to Virginia Kraft Payson, breeder of champion and promising young sire, Vindication, and champion Farda Amiga with Mr. Smith's input.
"He has balanced speed and stamina figures, which indicate he should have been able to carry his speed a distance, but obviously the injury at two compromised him. In my research though, these are the type of stallions who tend to sire precocious two-year-olds. As far as his Triads are concerned, they indicate a horse who would have ability on grass or synthetic surfaces. Since he tends to pass this stamina/turf influence on to his offspring (looking at the foal's Conduit Mare Profile), I would expect him to sire horses that could carry speed over turf or synthetic surfaces, which is certainly desired as more tracks put in synthetic surfaces." Bill Lathrop - Creator of the Mondern Conduit Mare Profiles, and breeding consultant to Stone Farm, Lexington, KY.
"Louis Arthur's sire, Relaunch, does not carry a single line of Phalaris in his pedigree. Relaunch was not only a source of early maturity and speed, but also as his progeny matured, they were capable of stretching their speed over a classic distance. Relaunch is represented by three winners of four Breeders' Cup Classics - as the sire of Skywalker in 1986, as the paternal grandsire of Tiznow in 2000 and 2001, and as the broodmare sire of Ghostzapper in 2004. No sire appears as often as Relaunch within the first two generations of the winners of the 10 furlong Breeders' Cup Classic. Louis Arthur's classic-speed oriented pedigree is further defined by the presence of Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew, Preakness winner Damascus, and European Triple Crown winner Nijinsky appearing as his dams' sires within his first four generations. Louis Arthur's versatile pedigree will present no problem to breeders who wish to breed for either precocity or classic stamina. But most of all, as a member of the Man O' War sire line, Louis Arthur represents a means of preserving a valuable non-Phalaris sire line that is one of the strongest hopes for maintaining the Thoroughbred's best attributes in the future."
